The
early years of Vega were sort of unrestrained growth, as the new company
was trying to find an identity for itself in a competitive industry.
Clearly
more support was needed and Tony started to look for the right people to
help the business forward. He presented his brothers with the opportunity
to be on board; Joe Khoury joined Vega as an Executive Manager while Steve
and Colin looked after the operations side.
To head and lead the company,
an old friend of Tony's, Peter Beesley joined in as a General Manager in
2002 until his retirement in 2004. With Peter's direction, Vega was positioned
as a competitive provider in the Facilities Management industry, serving
existing and new clients.
Vega launched VegaBuilt, an independent
fully licensed company construction arm of the business, and Joe Khoury headed
this new division.
VegaBuilt was a natural add-on growth to the existing
business. Our clients demanded it with their need for the uncomplicated speedy
response they're used to with Vega. The marketplace demanded it as well,
with the demand for value-for-money quality-housing accommodations.
Vegabuilt
was soon busily engaged with various construction projects (Commercial & residential),
leading to a successful relationship with Burger King (Australia), constructing
fifteen of its
BK
restaurants.
On the residential side, VegaBuilt
continued to acquire and develop various sites in the Sydney region with
projects value ranging from $1.5m to $6m.
